Hey all Expats .. as someone who is no longer living in Japan, I always jones in the spring for cherry blossoms. Hell, I have them tattooed on me. If you go to a hanami party, please post your photos in reply to this post - share with us! I love the spring in Japan!

All we have are boring tulips. Blech!

Does anyone have any handy tips for surviving in Japan? Random secrets or tips you learned? I especially like the "Duh!" findings, like...

• Sushi prices plummet the closer the store is to closing.
• Vending machines carry both cold (blue label) and warm (red label) drinks

Mine are..

1) Contradictory
2) Challenging
3) Exciting
4) Clean/Neat (tie)
5) Clockwork (as in things run like clockwork no matter what)

I won't say this is required reading, as enough of it is either already apparent or to the point of gun-against-temple depressing, but it is worth a round of discussion.

So, before I haul off and make some profoundly intelligent statements that have the girls swooning and the men stroking their beards, who else has read this?
